Do you like margaritas? We’re sharing our new favorite drink – blackberry jalapeño margarita recipe with you today.

Summer is here and it’s really hot in southern Louisiana. In spite of the heat, you probably remember how I fell in love with this season last year. Of course, we’ve been spending a lot of time together outside. The kids love it and we enjoying cooking on the grill for dinner. One thing’s for sure…

HOT weather calls for COLD drinks.

So, I was super excited to find this Blackberry Jalapeño Margarita recipe by Heather Christo! We got the chance to try it out last week and it was awesome! When it comes to drinks, I’ve never been good at making mixed drinks. I’ve never mastered making any cocktail drinks at home…until now. So thanks Heather! By the way, she has some other awesome margarita recipes on her blog that I’ll be saving for later.

Here’s The Holliday’s version of the blackberry jalapeño margarita.

You may be asking how does a margarita taste with jalapeños in it? Delicious!

If you enjoy drinking margaritas, then you’ll really love this recipe. As long as you remove all the jalapeño seeds you won’t have a problem with heat. But the sweet blackberry mixed with the spicy pepper makes this drink remarkable!

I’ll be honest and upfront about this one. It wasn’t the simplest recipe to make but I’m mastering it as time goes on. For one, the blackberry syrup has to be strained for seeds. Not a huge problem except for me – I don’t own a mesh strainer. Yep, I have a strainer, but not mesh one to catch blackberry and jalapeño seeds. So be sure you have this on hand! You don’t want to swallow extra seeds, believe me.

Also, the recipe calls for 1/2 cup of lime juice, which is a lot of lime juice when you’re squeezing fresh limes. But it’s so worth the FRESH lime juice. However, I did buy imitation lime juice to speed up the process. I’ll probably do half imitation and half fresh lime juice the next batch of margaritas I make. Now that I know how to make the drink and the process it will get easier as time goes on. You have to remember, I don’t tend to make cocktails. It’s a process that I’m feeling more confident about since trying this recipe. Please visit Heather Christo’s blog for the full recipe! She deserves all the credit.
