Make Your Own: Sweet & Spicy Beer Shooters

To help celebrate the ongoing Soccer Championship Game, you may be looking for some authentic Mexican recipes to share with family and friends. Traditionally, a Michelada cocktail is served throughout Mexico and Latin America so it would perfect for watching soccer matches. A Michelada is a Mexican cocktail made with beer, lime juice, and assorted sauces, spices, and peppers. Normally, it is served in a chilled, salt-rimmed glass too. Doesn’t a Michelada sound perfect?

When it comes to food, I love variety. With Clamato® Tomato Cocktail as the star ingredient, I know I can create the perfect Michelada. Clamato is the authentic tomato cocktail that spices up all your parties and get-togethers. For this year’s soccer games, I’ll be celebrating with a “Make Your Own: Sweet and Spicy Beer Shooter” station. This will allow my family and friends the ability to create their own custom Michelada – perfect for them. Don’t like spicy drinks? Don’t worry because I’ve got you covered! There is something for everyone.

To get started, I headed to my local Walmart and picked up a few essentials, including Clamato Tomato Cocktail. I shopped in-store at Walmart and found Clamato Tomato Cocktail – 64 oz., on the juice aisle. What’s great about Clamato is it’s great not only for cocktails but meals too. I also made sure to purchase beer, pineapple juice, ReaLemon®, and garnish like jalapeños. We’re all set! Now, let me show you how to make an awesome Michelada cocktail for anyone.

Make Your Own: Sweet & Spicy Beer Shooters

1. Salt the rim.

This step is super important to creating a tasty Michelada that your friends and family will remember. For variety, offer rimming salt in more variety. Try lime salt, chili salt, and citrus salt. Simply pour the salt on a small saucer, squeeze a lime over the rim of the shooter glass, and swirl the rim in your chosen salt. Each person may want a different salt and that’s exactly what you’re aiming for – variety.

2. Add 1/2 ounce of Clamato Tomato Cocktail to shooter glass or fill until 1/3 full.

Clamato is my “go-to” for everyone’s beer shooter so it’s easy to start with it. Since, there only 3 main ingredients in each Michelada, just fill your shooter glass 1/3 full. This should measure about 1/2 ounce.

3. Pick from sweet, tart, or spicy. Add 1/2 ounce of your chosen juice or syrup.

This step gives guests their choice of ReaLemon, pineapple juice, or jalapeño syrup. You’ll need to make your own jalapeño syrup in advance but it shouldn’t take long. I made mine with water, sugar, and jalapeños. Add 1/2 ounce or fill shooter glass 2/3 full with your chosen selection.

4. Fill with your favorite beer.

Choose from light, pale lager, or even a Belgian white. This step also allows each person to make a unique Michelada. I love a Belgian white beer so that’s definitely my Michelada beer pick.

5. Don’t forget to add garnish!

Garnish is the finishing touch on any cocktail and with a custom Michelada you can have so much fun. Think sliced jalapeños, pineapple, and lime. Put out a few garnish varieties and let guests choose their own. Have fun with this!

I’m looking forward to watching the Soccer Championship Games and of course doing a little entertaining. With Clamato, I’m feeling a lot more confident about creating a authentic recipe that everyone will love. With my custom beer shooters, everyone can choose their favorite varieties. Now who’s ready to watch soccer and drink Micheladas? Me!!!
